Public Safety Answering Points
The agency that answers 9-1-1 calls is a Public Safety Answering Point or PSAP. Primary Answering Points answer 9-1-1 calls. If that call needs to be transferred to another agency, the Primary Answering Point transfers the call to the secondary answering point. MCEAD has 7 Primary and 2 Secondary PSAPs.
